The Center for Disease Control has set up this SARS info page. Useful for reference desk patrons and potential ALA Conference delegates alike.
A partially annotated and completely useful bibliography on women and information technology (via cyborg mommy).
Finally, a single source for academic journal policies for contributors. Meet the Academic Journal Policy Database. Register for an account and help contribute to this worthy effort.

ALA has announced that it will join the Heritage Emergency National Task Force in assisting the Iraq National Library. News that comes on the heels of reports of US journalists and troops trying to smuggle cultural artifacts back into the US.
And this just in from the O'Reilly Emerging Tech Conference: pictures of the Internet Bookmobile, that little tool that prints books on demand [via kottke].
ALA on SARS and travel to Toronto.
Happy birthday LC! The agency turns 202 today.
LISFeeds 2.0 launched a couple of days ago. Nice new URL and much value added.
And not entirely on topic but a wicked find for cultural/critical theory geeks like me: Theory Trading Cards. Collect them all! Trade with friends!

Next week is Canada Book Week and CBC Radio always has some good accompanying programming on Canada Reads.
The pillaging of intellectual legacy in Baghdad (thanks Patricia). More coverage on this and related national library stories is here, here, and here.
Geoff has compiled this great list of info and resources on RSS, XML, and aggregators. Handy for anyone who is remotely stymied by it all.
After much press on the subject, standard filters for all library computers were finally rejected at Ottawa Public Library yesterday.

I redesigned my book page a few weeks ago and really liked the result, so I decided to replicate it somewhat here. The other motivation behind this redesign was an attempt to get these pages looking half decent on Netscape. I'm not totally there yet, but the display should be a bit better than before, at the very least.
This streamlining has also extended to the notifylist. I've removed the signup option, mostly because I haven't had a new signup in a few months. Faithful subscribers (all 42 of you) will still receive the [very] occasional message. If you'd still like to get on the notifylist, just mail me (remember to remove spam block).
I've also started a blogroll for the "others" section you see to the left, which means ease of linking, which means these links will constantly change (except for a few stock favourites), which means you might want to keep your eyes on the list.

Many, many woes with ALA's new website. Marylaine outlines the most niggling ones here. I can't even begin to recount some of the listserv threads that have been devoted to the problems with the new site, and those are just the ones I'm on.
Some fun with words.
Library Juice announces its endorsements for the ALA elections.
Steven is always on the ball with new library-type blogs. I like this one.
Sadly, "collateral damage" (is there anyone out there who doesn't despise this word yet?) now extends to national heritage.

ALA's new website is up and running. Well, up and any rate, not yet sure about running.
It's about time libraries started doing this.
Here's a sneaky little workaround to search WorldCat without a subscription. And no, it's not illegal.
The libronaut/library we used to know and love is now libronaut/dotgov and is devoted to government information. Same insightful commentary, slightly different focus. Given that I'm supposed to be the US/intl docs specialist where I work, any new government information weblog is a useful addition to my daily reading list.

You used to know bibliolatry.net as a library news/resource blog. Well, I'm now posting library news/resources at LISNews.com (albeit sporadically) and bibliolatry.net is where I talk about the library lit I'm reading. Have something I should read? Let me know. Have something to say about an article I talk about? Leave a comment. For more about me, go here.
