This looks like it will soon become invaluable: Government Gazettes Online is a collection of foreign government legal gazettes, listed by country and extensively annotated.
Some branches of the New York Public Library are resorting to donation boxes to supplement their dwindling budgets.
I've been taking my time combing through this study on literacy in American cities. Support for and use of public libraries is highest in Miami (Tampa also makes the top 10) and Colorado seems to like their libraries as well.

That UGA fire has now been ruled arson.
Advanced search on Google News is finally here. It irks me that they didn't include the ability to search in the lead paragraph of the article (like a lot of commercial news indexes do). When I wrote them last year with my thoughts on the News search, this was the one recommended feature I deemed most important. But what do I know?
Karen Schneider blogs [via librarian.net].
Idling on my new cable connection at home last night, I stumbled upon The Hulk Library. Info-packed, this one.
And more fruits of broadband surfing, this Tom the Dancing Bug strip on Dewey vs. the publishing industry in Salon, circa 2000.

I probably read about this elsewhere ages ago but a listserv message just reminded me: you can track ALA's website developments here.
Speaking of which, I just logged in to ALA to change my "Communication Preferences" and here's why you should too.
A new Yahoo group for librarian stay-at-home parents whose purpose is to "share career tips such as how to keep active in the profession or work from home."
The American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression has put out a plea to encourage the book and library community to voice their support of the proposed PATRIOT Act amendment that will cut funding to the Justice Department for bookstore and library records searches.

bibliolatry.net is live. I encourage you to change your bookmarks because, while it is just a redirect now, I do plan on having it fully hosted some day. When I can afford it.

I've registered bibliolatry.net. For now it's just a mirror so it will still redirect to here and I'll let you know when it's up and running.
Great interview with Karen Schneider over at Ex Libris. Marylaine really knows the right questions to ask.

Time to get caught up. My domain problems have been well and truly nixed, so look for more regular posting in the days to come.
Librarian Avengers is at a new URL. It's good to have Erica back, but now I have to alter the logo on my travel mug (which always seems to draw quizzical looks at the reference desk).
Steven is doing a little followup to "Marryin' the Librarian" and is looking for willing librarian couples to dish the goods on being librarian couples. I've already alerted the two librarian couples in my library.

Carla Hayden made her first appearance as new ALA pres this morning encouraging reading, of course.

You used to know bibliolatry.net as a library news/resource blog. Well, I'm now posting library news/resources at LISNews.com (albeit sporadically) and bibliolatry.net is where I talk about the library lit I'm reading. Have something I should read? Let me know. Have something to say about an article I talk about? Leave a comment. For more about me, go here.
