did you shop?

when you tell most people you were in NYC for the weekend, this is the question they usually ask. so here's what i bought. for $4, at a booksale at the Mid-Manhattan branch of the public library: a wine journal, Generation X: Field Guide and Lexicon, The Book of Tea and Herbs, Consumed: Why Americans Love, Hate, and Fear Food, and a lovely leather bound copy of The Underground Dictionary in English/Japanese. from Purl: two skeins of hand dyed Manos del Uruguay in colourway 113. and from I-can't-remember-where: a pair of sensible shoes with some birthday money (thanks, parental unit!). Probably not what most people have in mind when they think "shopping in New York", but there you go.
