update your bookmarks!
blogwithoutalibrary.net is now fully-hosted, no more redirect. Please update your bookmarks/blogrolls accordingly. New RSS feed will be here. I plan on maintaining the old archives here so your old links should still work.

more on the bibliography
If you've had a look at the companion bibliography, you already know that I promised to start annotating it one day. That day has come. I'm starting with the new additions but will slowly work my way through the whole list. Now to figure out how to make it play with RSS for all you aggregator-types.

more on conferencing
If you can't get enough of this whole blog thing, you might consider attending BloggerCon. Conference attendance is free and this year there is a session on blogs & libraries [link via shifed]. Also, have a look at the list of registrants, it's like the red carpet of bloggers!

shifting RSS

More fascinating uses for RSS in the library world from Jenny Levine. I've been salivating over the Internet Librarian conference programs for the past few years, this makes me want to throw budgetary caution to the wind and just register!

great, but not for everyone
As much as I tout the advantages of RSS, I will admit that I am personally a reluctant RSS user myself. I've sampled a few aggregators and have somewhat settled on Bloglines, but I probably only check my Bloglines page twice a week at most. I'm still far more dependant on my blogroll mostly because I tend to find that blog content taken out of the design context just isn't what I'm looking for. This guy succinctly outlines a few reasons why RSS doesn't work for him and I'd agree with just about all of them [via lockergnome, ironically taken off my aggregator this morning!]

virtual reference blogging

Jeffrey Pomerantz & Frederic Stutzman have written an interesting article [pdf] on using blogs to provide virtual reference in a collaborative environment. And while I hate being so self-referential, I talk about the article in more detail over at bibliolatry.net, my other library blog.
