I was pleased to see entry for "Blogs" in the brand new Encyclopedia of Community. The entry is interesting and good, a brief excerpt:

Kate Sherrill operates a library at a residence hall at Indiana University (which is, in and of itself, a fascinating thing) and she uses a blog to communicate with her student workers. Innovative!
