I started this archive right after Gulf War II started, earlier this year. It was a reaction to the proliferation of anti-war and pro-peace media that was floating around the campus I work at (standard disclaimer: this is a personal initiative, based on personal reactions and political convictions, and in no way represents those of my employer). I was delighted to see both the student and faculty populations raise the awareness of world events to such a level of visibility, in part because my undergraduate alma mater was so apolitical while I was there, but also because I have a fundamental belief that grassroots activism can really Make a Difference. Much of the media I was encountering was intelligent and poignant and, by definition, ephemeral. So I scanned all the flyers and pamphlets I could get my hands on, and I walked around and took lots of pictures of stuff that wouldn't fit on to my flatbed. I also sent out a plea for others to send me stuff from their college and university campuses, and I only got one submission. I like to believe that this is not because students in other schools didn't care, but mostly because people couldn't or wouldn't invest the time to scan stuff themselves. Which is fine, life is busy.
